If you're using a math curriculum, I wanted to show activities you can use before starting the division units. For many of my homeschool tutoring students, these activities helped give them a foundation in some of the concepts and vocabulary associated with division that were confusing at first. I find it helpful to either teach or review them before starting division.
Concept 1: Division as Sharing
Your curriculum will likely cover this topic at least briefly, but I also like to practice it beforehand. You can use worksheets like the ones pictured (click the picture and scroll down to access them), as well as practice the concept in natural contexts such as meals, snacktime, or games (dealing cards, etc.).
Concept 2: The Terms "Each" vs. "Group"
These terms are often challenging for my students when starting division problems, so I made these pages to specifically teach the difference and how they're used in division problems. The pictures are from either a set of space-themed worksheets or animal-themed worksheets. I made one set of each theme. The problems are essentially the same, I just made them for students with different interests. Click on the pictures (and scroll down) to get the worksheets.
Concept 3: The Term "Split"
Many math curriculums will use this term when talking about division, so I made a quick vocabulary page to review the word's meaning.
More Practice
The rest of the worksheets in these packets have application and review of these concepts, such as the examples below. I hope you've found these resources helpful! Please feel free to contact me with any questions or additional ideas.
